What turns a drab night out into a fab ab-crunching routine this spring in Cape Town?
Watching six one-act plays by award winning Broadway playwright Christopher Durang, told with a unique directorial twist by Katey Carson, of course. Kalahari Film and Media presents an evening of dark comedy featuring some of Broadway darling Christopher Durang's plays, produced by Michael Murphey and Heike Brunner. 6 one-act plays, 1 director, 10 actors. Over 18s only. Carson directs award-winning films and documentaries, and her take on the catastrophically comedic texts that made Durang famous is something that brings even the most estranged groups together through non-stop laughter. Stories about a man at the traffic department, mourners at a funeral, how swizzle sticks can ruin a life and divorcees at dinner, good luck to them! The play holds a larger-than-life mirror up to modern society and its unwritten codes. DATES From 5th Nov - 6th Dec 2015 each Thurs, Fri & Sat @8pm Sun 29th Nov & 6th Dec @6pm VENUE GALLOWAY THEATRE CAPE TOWN Port Road, Cape Town Safe parking next to Waterfront Theatre School. Just in time for this week's performances, Die Burger carries a 'lekker' review of FUNERALS, KIDNAPPINGS, SWIZZLE STICKS... |
